Taking A Break

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

It’s August and time for a break! With most people on their holidays and us in need of a break, we’ll be taking some time out from blogging this month. We’ll be back in September with the must have Autumn/Winter 2010 trends to wear as well as our newsletter and style picks.

We hope you have a great month!

Feminine Florals

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

Florals may typically be seen as a springtime print but they’re also a great way to add a pop of colour to your Autumn/Winter wardrobe too if you pick the right kind. Here are three that you can wear right now, during the transitional season, or during winter.

Summer Florals

What a great maxi this is! The floral print on this is rather abstract and not obviously floral so this dress could work for a few summers. It’s 100% silk so super luxurious, flirty and feminine and currently on sale for £139.30 from Ted Baker at ASOS. Grab it whilst you still can!

Transitional Florals

This floral print blouse is perfect for the transitional period between right now and Autumn. It’s silk blend (54% silk and 46% linen) so it’s also rather luxurious too. Team with tailored trousers or shorts depending on the weather for dressed up chic. Buy from Tucker at net-a-porter at £230.

Winter Florals

What blog post on florals would be complete without a mention of Liberty? This Prova for Liberty scarf comes in at £250 which may seem a little steep for a scarf but it is a classic Liberty print. This would be perfect for the cold winter and also add a splash of colour amongst the usual winter colour palette of blacks, browns and greys.

Glorious Gladiators

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

Like it or not, the gladiator has been around for years and has no foreseeable plans of disappearing. Work gladiators in a way that suits your style with our three picks below…

The Classic Gladiator

These are currently on sale at Office for £29.75 which is a great price if you want to try out glads but are still a little hestitant. The classic style gladiator suits pretty much everybody and will go with anything in your wardrobe. Whilst we’ve picked the colour in a gorgeous chocolate brown leather, they also come in a huge array of other colours including animal print!

The Ultra Feminine GladiatorFor a more feminine gladiator, how about these Hula Tassle Sandals from Topshop, £28. The sweet nude colour is still very on trend at the moment and combined with the metallic and neutral coloured tassels transform the typical gladiator style into something very pretty for your feet!

The Glam Gladiator

To add a touch of glamour into your step, why not try this pair on for size from Kurt Geiger, £95? The gold chains just scream luxe whilst the multicolour straps make it just perfect for tropical islands!

Hand Luggage with Personality

Monday, July 26th, 2010

Luggage doesn’t have to be a boring black bag you’ve had for years. Our three picks for hand luggage with style are…

1) Longchamp Le Pliage tote. I think almost everyone owns a Longchamp Le Pliage tote, and honestly there aren’t many reasons not to. They’re practical and can be folded away until needed, come in a huge array of colours and designs (check out Jeremy Scott’s ongoing collaboration with them for wonderfully whacky designs) and are easy to clean, waterproof… the list goes on! At only £66 for this huge tote that is bound to fit all your essentials (books, sunnies, all those other things we talked about…) and more.

2) ASOS Premium Leather Weave Holdall, £100. Not a lot says summer like weaving and woven bags in particular. Get into the holiday frame of mind with this luxe version of a beach bag. Unlike the Le Pliage, this ASOS holdall can be worn over the shoulder, which is particularly handy if you have a tendancy to pack the kitchen sink in (I know I’m guilty of this…)

3) Radley Fleet Street Wheeled Workbag, £160. Perfect for business trips, or if you want a wheelie option for hand luggage, this bag has lots of room for files and folders and everything else. Although it describes itself as a workbag, it’s both sleek and stylish so could be used for a lot more than meets the eye.

How to sum up Issa in one word? I’d choose STUNNING! Just look at these jaw-droppingly gorgeous dresses, beautiful prints and incredidbly flattering designs. How could you not fall in love with Issa? We covered some maxi dresses recently and this one from Issa is certain to make you a head turner. Team with long necklaces and those all-important oversized shades a la Nicole Richie for a glamorous yet casual “I just threw this on!” look. Buy from net-a-porter for £620. Whilst I love colour and colourful clothes, black dresses are a must! I have a few go-to black dresses, and I’m adding this one to the list! Perfect for formal and black-tie events, this black little number is form-fitting, classic and a little bit sexy all at the same time. Also available from net-a-porter at £655.Remember our post selling to you the wonderous virtues of jersey dresses last month? This pink one is a great option is you want a piece of Issa’s elegance and gorgeous design in an everyday dress. It’s sure to comfy and as flattering as the others. Buy from mytheresa for £311.31. Finally, we have this incredible grey (but also available in white) gown available from net-a-porter for £625. I have no other words – this is a dress that speaks volumes all by itself.
